Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 3, 2026

Welcome to LocalNoiseLaws.com ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of our website and its AI-powered tools.

1. Information We Collect

We believe in minimalism when it comes to data. We do not require user accounts, and we do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or physical address on our servers.

  • Search Queries: We process the location information (city, region, country) you enter manually to fetch relevant noise ordinance information.
  • Automatic Location Detection: To improve user experience, we use Cloudflare's edge network to approximate your general location (City/Region) based on your IP address. This allows us to suggest relevant local laws immediately upon page load. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored in a persistent user profile.
  • AI Interactions: Text you enter into the AI Chatbot, Complaint Assistant, or Action Wizard is sent to our AI provider for processing.
  • Feature Usage Data: We collect anonymous data about how you interact with our tools (e.g., "User generated a complaint draft," "User started the decibel meter") to understand which features are most useful.

2. Microphone Access & Audio Data

Our "Noise Detective" and "Decibel Meter" tools require access to your device's microphone.

  • No Recording Storage: We do not store, save, or listen to your audio recordings on our servers.
  • Real-Time Processing: Audio data captured by the Noise Detective is streamed directly to the Google Gemini API for real-time classification (e.g., identifying a sound as "construction" or "dog barking"). It is processed transiently and then discarded.
  • Decibel Meter: Audio data used for the Decibel Meter is processed entirely within your web browser and is never transmitted to any server.

3. Local Storage (Your Browser)

To provide features like the "Noise Log" without requiring an account, we store certain data locally on your device using browser localStorage.

  • Noise Log Data: The incidents you document in the Noise Log are saved only in your specific browser. We do not have access to this data. If you clear your browser cache, this data will be lost.
  • Preferences: We save settings like your preferred color theme (light/dark mode) and your consent preferences regarding cookies and advertising.

4. Third-Party Services, Advertising & Affiliates

Our service relies on third-party APIs, advertising partners, and affiliate programs to function. These services have their own privacy policies.

  • Google Gemini API: Text and audio inputs for AI features are processed by Google. We recommend reviewing Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare for website hosting, security, and edge computing. Cloudflare processes technical data (including IP addresses) to deliver the site content, provide security protection, and enable the location-based features described above.
  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website traffic and usage patterns. This service uses cookies to collect anonymous data about your visit, such as pages viewed, time spent on site, and general location (city/country level).
  • Google AdSense & Ad Partners: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Amazon Associates Program: We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. If you click on a product link, Amazon may place a cookie on your device to track the referral and attribute the sale. We do not receive your payment details or personal shipping information.

5. Cookies and Advertising Technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as device scanning) to analyze traffic and show you personalized ads. This includes:

  • Necessary Cookies: Required for the site to function (e.g., remembering your dark mode preference).
  • Advertising & Analytics Cookies: Used by Google and certified partners to create ad profiles and measure ad performance.

When accessing our site from the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you will be presented with a Consent Management Platform (CMP) where you can explicitly consent to or deny the use of these technologies.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

6. Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission between your browser and our services. Because we do not store personal data or noise logs on our backend, there is minimal risk of data breach involving your personal information from our side.

7. User Rights (GDPR / CCPA / UK GDPR)

Depending on your location, you have certain rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: If you are in the EEA or UK, you can update your privacy choices at any time by clicking the "Privacy & Cookie Settings" link located in the website footer or by clearing your browser cookies to trigger the consent banner again.
  • Right to Access/Deletion: Since we do not store personal data on our servers, we cannot provide or delete account data. You may delete the Local Storage data in your own browser at any time to remove your local Noise Logs.

8. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date on this page.
